Mark your calendar for our 5K run/walk on Super Bowl Sunday! Join 800 other friends of IRIS (including many Returned Peace Corps Volunteers) to support refugees with a brisk run or walk through East Rock Park in New Haven, followed by a fun and delicious post-race party.
Start your Super Bowl festivities early with a fun-filled event that raises funds and awareness for the hundreds of refugees who start new lives in Connecticut each year. Form a team to raise funds to sponsor refugee runners. The challenging certified course runs through picturesque East Rock Park. Chip timing and T-Shirts to all participants! After the race, enjoy a warm, indoor post-race party with fabulous international food, beverages and entertainment. Awards will be given to the first three finishers in each age division: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+ and Wheelchair.
Peace Corps challenge — If 20 or more RPCVs run or walk in the Run for Refugees, each one will receive a special gift, and a donation of $1,000 will be made to IRIS. Sponsorship opportunities are available: contact Chris George (IRIS Executive Director and RPCV, Oman 1977 – 1979) at 203-562-2095 x 206 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
